Akron, OH (May 24, 2022) – Two children reportedly lost their lives in the aftermath of a structure fire in the Akron area on Monday evening, May 23. The deadly incident took place at a residence located at the 1200 block of 7th Avenue at around 7 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a two-story home. When emergency responders were able to get inside the structure, they found an 8-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy unresponsive. Both parties were taken to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
No adults were reportedly home at the time of the deadly fire. The identities of the deceased have been withheld.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
