Mayfield, OH (January 27, 2022) – A woman was injured after a drunk driver crashed into two police vehicles in the Mayfield area on Friday night, January 21. The accident was reported on Interstate 271 near Highland Road at around 8:04 p.m.
Both police vehicles were reportedly stopped on the side of the interstate with their emergency lights engaged. The officers were reportedly helping a woman with a disabled vehicle. A 38-year-old Garfield Heights man driving a Honda Civic crashed into both patrol cars.
A 23-year-old East Lake woman sitting inside one of the vehicles was injured and hospitalized for treatment. The at-fault driver was found to be driving on a suspended license and was arrested for felony OVI.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
