Columbia Twp, OH (December 3, 2021) – There were multiple injuries reported following a two-vehicle crash involving an ambulance in Columbia Township on Thursday evening, December 2. The accident was reported at the crossing of OH-252 and OH-82 at around 8:10 p.m.
Local witnesses revealed that a Valley City ambulance was headed north on OH-252 when it ran a red light at the intersection. It was then hit by a westbound 2017 Nissan Sentra. The impact caused the ambulance to overturn. There was a patient inside at the time of the crash.
According to initial reports, the emergency vehicle had its overhead lights and sirens activated leading up to the collision. The occupants of both vehicles were transported to Southwest General Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries.
An ongoing crash investigation is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Intersection Collisions in Ohio
Intersection collisions are among the most dangerous on the road, accounting for more than half of all serious injuries and a quarter of all fatalities. Almost all intersection collisions involve left-hand turns and failure to yield the right of way. According to the Federal Highway Administration, almost 2.5 million car crashes take place at intersections each year, accounting for nearly 40% of all recorded car accidents nationwide.
Car accident victims frequently struggle to understand their rights in time to protect themselves following an accident. The moments immediately following a collision are crucial in securing your claim for compensation. Most people do not have a thorough understanding of state laws, insurance policies, or what to do if they are injured in a car accident, and this can be a stumbling block when pursuing your claim for compensation. Fortunately, you do not have to pursue a personal injury claim on your own, and hiring an attorney with experience can improve your chances of recovering lost compensation. An experienced Columbia Township personal injury lawyer can assist you in filing a claim and recovering damages such as medical bills, lost wages, and other losses.
