Pedestrian Crashes in Ohio
A total of 145 pedestrians were killed in automobile incidents on Ohio’s highways in 2017, according to the most current data from the Ohio Traffic Crash Facts Book. Although pedestrian accidents accounted for barely half of one percent of all traffic accidents in Ohio last year, those traveling on foot were involved in roughly 12.3 percent of all roadway deaths. These statistics demonstrate how susceptible pedestrians are to Ohio car accidents.
Pedestrians and other non-motorists on Ohio roadways stand a greater risk of serious injury or death as a consequence of a traffic accident without the protective frame of an automobile surrounding them. Not only that, but those traveling on foot have reduced maneuverability to escape imminent wrecks or respond to emergencies. Pedestrian accidents may happen in the blink of an eye, and they usually happen in metropolitan areas after dark when eyesight is limited.
