Cleveland, OH (December 9, 2021) – Authorities have identified the young man who was killed following a two-vehicle crash in Cleveland on Saturday morning, December 4. The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Interstate 90 and Eddy Road at around 5:30 a.m.
Local reports revealed that 22-year-old Elijah Knipe was headed westbound on the interstate in a pickup truck. The driver reportedly lost control, causing the truck to go airborne and overturn. Knipe was hit by another car as he was attempting to climb out of the crashed pickup.
The impact sent Knipe flying into the eastbound lanes of I-90. He suffered fatal injuries after being hit again by a 2013 to 2016 Ford Fusion. That vehicle fled the scene. The woman driving the first vehicle that hit Knipe’s pickup was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
