Elyria, OH (October 14, 2024) – A 9-year-old child lost their life after being struck by a vehicle in Elyria. The collision occurred on Saturday, October 12. The accident was reported to officials just before 6:00 p.m.
Official reports show that a 9-year-old boy was riding a bicycle in the 100 block of Burns Road. As he proceeded down the roadway, a Jeep attempted to drive around two boys on bicycles. For unknown reasons, the Jeep struck them both. The 9-year-old was severely injured in the accident and pronounced deceased at the scene. The 10-year-old was severely injured and rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Elyria Medical Center for emergency care. The child was then airlifted and flown to the University of Ohio Rainbows and Babies Children’s Hospital for further treatment. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
