Thompson Twp, OH (December 27, 2021) – A driver was killed and two passengers injured following a traffic accident in Thompson Township on Monday morning, December 27. The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of County Road 34 and Township Line Road at around 1:20 a.m.
Local reports revealed that a 2003 Dodge Caravan was traveling on the roadway when the driver left the road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle re-entered the road and over-corrected before leaving the right side of the roadway. The car hit a tree and overturned several times.
The driver, 41-year-old Brian Sampsel of Bellevue, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. A 22-year-old and 25-year-old passenger were both injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the accident.
An ongoing investigation into the crash is underway.
