Shalersville, OH (January 28, 2022) – An elderly man and woman were injured after being involved in a crash with a garbage truck in Shalersville on Thursday morning, January 27. The accident was reported at the intersection of OH-303 and Jerome Road at around 9:39 a.m.
Local reports indicated that 2012 Mack garbage truck was headed northbound when the driver allegedly failed to yield at the intersection. As the vehicle was making a left-hand turn, it was struck by a 2012 Ford Edge traveling eastbound. The impact caused the SUV to leave the roadway and overturn.
It was reported that a passenger in the Ford, 80-year-old Linda Baker of Mantua, was transported to UH Portage Medical Center in critical condition. The driver, 86-year-old John T. Gladish of Ravenna, was also hospitalized. The Euclid man driving the truck as not injured.
An ongoing investigation into the crash is underway.
