Fatal Car Accidents in Ohio
In Ohio, more than 1000 people lost their lives as a result of automobile accidents statewide in 2022. Each year, we continue to see the number of innocent people who continue to lose their lives increase despite the number of laws that we have in place to protect drivers on our roadways. Far too often, these fatal collisions are a result of negligence. Leading factors in fatal crashes include:
- Distractions: When motorists do not pay attention to the road ahead, they are less likely to see other vehicles traveling nearby. As a result, they can crash into them and cause severe harm.
- Unfamiliar Roadways: When drivers do not know what to expect on the roadways that they are traveling on, it can lead to unknown circumstances. Being unfamiliar with the roadway increases the likelihood that drivers will enter the highways and other roads in the wrong direction and crash into others.
- Speeding: When drivers are traveling too fast, especially in commercial vehicles, it can be incredibly difficult to stop in time to avoid a collision.
Unfortunately, these and other acts of negligence are some of the most common factors in crashes across our state every year. Losing a loved one due to a fatal accident caused by the negligent actions of another driver can be quite challenging. However, families do have legal options available to help them move forward.
Although there is nothing that can be done to bring back those who have been taken away suddenly and unexpectedly, a wrongful death lawsuit can provide your family with financial relief for funeral costs, lost earnings, and more.
