Cleveland, OH (January 9, 2024) – Emergency officials confirmed that a 37-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man both lost their lives following a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Cuyahoga County on Monday morning, January 8. The accident was reported to law enforcement at around 5:50 a.m.
According to reports provided by authorities, a collision between two vehicles took place on Interstate 490 W. The incident blocked the roadway just west of East 55th Street. The police and firefighters responded to the scene of the crash to provide care to the victims. One male victim, identified as 45-year-old James Wells of Elyria, Ohio, was pronounced deceased on site. A female victim, 37-year-old Shalon Barnett of Cleveland, Ohio, was transported to for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that she passed away after arriving. At this time, the crash is being investigated by the Cleveland police’s Accident Investigation Unit.
