Cleveland, OH – Four Killed in Car Crash on W. 106th St

CLEVELAND, Ohio (March 14, 2024) – A motor vehicle crash on Cleveland’s west side early Wednesday morning claimed the lives of four individuals, including two 14-year-olds.

Authorities responded to the accident scene in the 2000 block of West 106th Street at approximately 12:45 a.m. after multiple 911 calls from concerned neighbors. According to reports, the driver was traveling northbound on the roadway when they lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, and struck two trees.

Cleveland EMS described the vehicle as “obliterated.” The impact caused three of the passengers to be ejected from the vehicle, while the driver remained inside. Tragically, all four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified three of the victims as two 14-year-olds and 18-year-old Eddy Deandre Bonner. The fourth victim has yet to be confirmed but is believed to be either a juvenile or a young adult in their 20s. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and working to notify the families of the deceased.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

Fatal Accidents in Ohio

Cleveland, OH – Four Killed in Car Crash on W. 106th StSerious car accidents claim many lives each year in Ohio. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, fatal crashes occur frequently due to excessive speed, impaired driving, and loss of control. In 2023 alone, over 1,100 fatalities were reported on Ohio roadways, with young drivers being particularly at risk in high-speed crashes.

Understanding the dangers of high-speed driving can help reduce these incidents. Below are some common consequences of speeding-related accidents:

  • Loss of Vehicle Control – Higher speeds reduce a driver’s ability to react to obstacles or sudden changes in road conditions. This often leads to severe collisions, rollovers, or vehicles veering off the roadway.
  • Increased Impact Force – The faster a car travels, the greater the force during impact, making serious injuries or fatalities more likely.
  • Reduced Effectiveness of Safety Features – Airbags and seat belts are less effective in high-speed crashes, increasing the risk of ejection and fatal injuries.
  • Extended Stopping Distance – The higher the speed, the longer it takes for a vehicle to stop, making it harder to avoid sudden hazards or obstacles.
